Why this happens in Florida

Florida works an air conditioner hard

Here an AC runs most of the year, and through summer it can run almost nonstop. Every start stresses the capacitor, contactor and compressor, so these parts wear out sooner than they would up north.

Humidity is the other half of the load. Your system pulls a steady stream of water out of the air, and that water has to drain. Warm, wet drain lines grow algae that can back up into the pan or trip the safety switch.

In many homes the air handler and ducts sit in a hot attic. A small leak, a dirty coil or a clogged filter shows up fast when the system is already running near its limit.

What we check

The readings we take, and show you

We don’t guess and swap parts until something works. We measure, and you see the numbers.

  • Refrigerant pressures with superheat and subcooling, to tell a charge problem from an airflow problem
  • Amp draw on the compressor and fan motors, compared to the nameplate
  • Capacitor readings in microfarads against the rated value
  • Total external static pressure, to see whether ducts or a filter are choking airflow
  • Temperature split across the indoor coil
  • Contactor, wiring and disconnect for burned or loose connections
  • Condensate drain, pan and float switch

Low refrigerant almost always means a leak. Adding refrigerant without finding it only buys time, and we tell you that up front. Learn more about refrigerant leak repair.

How it works

How an AC repair visit runs

1

Call or book

Call (904) 467-1100 or book online, Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 8 PM. Tell us what the system is doing and when it started.

2

Measured diagnosis

The residential diagnostic fee is $129. Mr Gary tests the system, shows you the readings and explains what failed and why.

3

Written quote, then the fix

You get a written quote before any work starts. Go ahead with a recommended repair over $250 and the $129 fee is waived.

For businesses, the diagnostic fee is $149, waived on repairs over $300. See commercial HVAC. If an older system no longer makes sense to fix, we will say so and price an AC replacement side by side with the repair.

Straight answers

Common questions

Why is my AC running but blowing warm air?

Common causes are a failed outdoor capacitor or contactor, low refrigerant from a leak, or a frozen indoor coil. If the outdoor fan isn’t spinning or you see ice on the lines, turn the system off and call so the compressor isn’t damaged.

How much is a diagnostic visit?

The residential diagnostic fee is $129, and it is waived if you go ahead with a recommended repair over $250. Commercial diagnostics are $149, waived on repairs over $300.

My AC is leaking water inside. What should I do?

Turn the system off at the thermostat to limit water damage. Most indoor leaks come from a clogged condensate drain line or a rusted or cracked drain pan, and both can be checked on a repair visit.

Can’t you just add refrigerant?

An AC is a sealed system, so low refrigerant almost always means a leak. Adding refrigerant without finding the leak is a temporary fix, so we measure the charge and talk through leak repair options before any work.

Do you offer any discounts on repairs?

Yes. Military members, first responders and seniors get 10% off residential service.

Get it measured, get it fixed, get a written price first.
