Right now, before we arrive

Five things that save product

  1. Keep the door shut. Every opening costs you cold air you can’t spare.
  2. Move high-value product to a working box or onto ice.
  3. Check the breaker and the thermostat setting. Reset a breaker once only.
  4. Look at the condenser. If it’s matted with grease or lint, note it for the tech.
  5. Write down the temperature and the time for your food-safety log.

Why Florida is hard on refrigeration

Hot kitchens, salt air and a 41° line you can’t cross

Heat around the condenser

Condensing units in 95°F+ kitchens and on sun-baked roofs have to reject heat into air that’s already hot. Head pressure climbs, compressors run hotter, and parts fail sooner.

Grease, lint and salt

Kitchen grease and dryer lint mat condenser coils. Near the beaches, salt air corrodes fins and electrical connections. A dirty coil is the most common cause of a box that’s slowly getting warmer.

The 41°F food-safety line

Cold-held food has to stay at 41°F or below. A box drifting to 45° is a failed inspection, and possibly thousands of dollars of product. Maintenance costs less than either.

How a call runs

Three steps, and you see the readings

1

You call

Tell us the equipment, the box temperature and what it’s doing. That decides what parts go on the truck.

2

We diagnose

Pressures, amp draw, defrost cycle and coil condition. We show you what failed. The commercial diagnostic is $149, waived if you approve a repair over $300.

3

Written quote, then the fix

When the part is on the truck, the repair usually happens the same visit. When it isn’t, you know the price and the timeline before we leave.

Preventive maintenance plan

Stop paying for emergencies

Most refrigeration breakdowns start as a dirty coil, a worn gasket or a clogged drain, all cheap to catch early. Our quarterly plan covers:

  • Condenser and evaporator coil cleaning
  • Door gasket and heater inspection
  • Drain line flushing and treatment
  • Refrigerant pressure and amp-draw readings
  • Ice machine descale and sanitize
  • A written service log for your health inspector’s file
  • Priority scheduling when something does go down

Restaurants

Walk-ins, reach-ins, prep lines, ice.

Convenience stores

Coolers, freezers, beverage doors.

Churches & halls

Kitchen equipment that sits idle, then has to work.

Schools & daycares

Food storage that has to pass inspection.

Straight answers

Commercial refrigeration questions

When are you available?

Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 8 PM. If a box is down, call (904) 467-1100 and we’ll give you the fastest time we can be there.

What does a commercial service call cost?

The commercial diagnostic is $149, waived if you approve a recommended repair over $300.

Do you also service the restaurant’s AC?

Yes. We handle the kitchen and dining room HVAC as well, so one contractor covers both.

Are you EPA certified?

Yes. Gee holds EPA Section 608 Universal certification, which covers small appliances like reach-ins and ice machines as well as high- and low-pressure systems like walk-in coolers and freezers.

Can you invoice our business?

Yes. We invoice businesses and property managers, and we’re a JSEB-certified small business.

How often should a walk-in be serviced?

Quarterly in a Florida commercial kitchen. Grease and heat foul condenser coils fast, and a dirty coil is the most common cause of a failing box.
