Duct repair, sealing & replacement
In many Florida homes the ducts run through the attic. When they leak, crush or pull apart, you pay to cool air you never feel, and the house gets harder to keep dry.
At a glance
Why this happens in Florida
On a summer afternoon an attic gets far hotter than the air outside. Ducts carrying cold air through that space depend on tight joints and intact insulation to deliver what the system makes.
Flex duct is common in attics. It sags when its supports are spaced too far apart, gets crushed when someone walks on it or stores boxes on top, and its inner liner can tear or slip off the collar.
A leak on the return side pulls hot, humid attic air straight into the system. That adds heat and moisture the AC has to remove, so it runs longer and the house still feels damp. Supply leaks dump cooled air into the attic and pull outside air in through every gap in the house.
Torn insulation or a loose connection lets cold duct surfaces meet humid attic air, and they sweat. That water can stain ceilings and lead to mold growth on ducts or drywall, which is why we check humidity control alongside the ducts.
What we check
Repairs range from sealing joints with mastic or UL 181 listed tape, to reconnecting and properly supporting flex runs, to replacing sections or adding return air. When the duct liner is brittle throughout, replacement usually costs less over time than chasing leaks. After the work, static pressure is measured again so you can compare the numbers.
How the job runs
Call (904) 467-1100 or book online. Tell us which rooms are uncomfortable, what time of day it’s worst, and whether anyone has worked in the attic recently.
The diagnostic fee is $129 for homes, waived if you go ahead with a recommended repair over $250. Commercial is $149, waived on repairs over $300.
You see the static pressure readings and what we found in the attic, then get a written quote for sealing, repair or replacement.

Common signs are rooms that never cool, weak airflow at some vents, extra dust, and higher bills. A static pressure test and an attic inspection confirm it.
Static pressure is the resistance the blower pushes against, measured in inches of water column. When it runs higher than the equipment is rated for, airflow drops and the system works harder.
Yes. A leaky return pulls humid attic air into the system, and supply leaks draw outside air into the house, both of which add moisture the AC has to remove.
Sealing and reconnecting works when the ducts are otherwise sound. If the flex liner is brittle or torn throughout, replacement is usually the better value.
