HVAC service in Atlantic Beach
Navy-town homes in the ocean air

Atlantic Beach is nearly built out, so most HVAC work here is repair, replacement and upgrades inside existing homes. Mr Gary handles all three, with readings shown on site and the price in writing.

What Atlantic Beach homes put their AC through

Atlantic Beach grew out of a resort era. Henry Flagler’s rail line reached Mayport in 1900 and the Continental Hotel opened along it the next year; after the hotel burned in 1919, families began settling year-round. Naval Station Mayport, established in the 1940s, drove much of the town’s later growth, and in 1996 the city pushed its western boundary to the Intracoastal Waterway.

The city describes itself today as nearly built out and mostly residential, so new houses are rare and remodels are common. When a home gains an addition or a converted garage, the original system often can’t carry the extra space without short-changing the rest of the house. A ductless mini-split for the new room is frequently simpler than stretching old ductwork.

The ocean is close everywhere here, and outdoor equipment shows it. White, powdery buildup on the coil, rust at the cabinet screws and green crust on electrical terminals are signs the unit needs attention before a contactor or capacitor gives out in July.

  • Whether the existing system can handle an addition or enclosed porch
  • Corrosion on terminals, contactors and the capacitor
  • Heat pump defrost operation for winter heating
  • Duct condition in homes that have been remodeled more than once

Planning a remodel?

Bring HVAC in early

If you are adding square footage, closing in a porch or moving walls, plan the heating and cooling at the same time. Moving a return or adding a supply run is easy with the walls open and expensive afterward, and a load calculation shows whether the existing system can handle the new layout.

Straight answers

Common questions

Do you offer a military discount in Atlantic Beach?

Yes. Service members and their families save 10% on residential work, as do first responders and seniors; bring it up when you schedule.

Can my current AC handle a new addition?

Sometimes, but often not without leaving other rooms short. Mr Gary can check the system’s capacity and airflow, and a ductless mini-split is often the simpler way to condition the new space.

What does salt corrosion look like on an AC unit?

Look for white or green powdery buildup on the coil and terminals, flaking fins and rust on screws and panels. Corroded electrical parts are a common reason a unit stops starting.
