Western Nassau County
Callahan is a small town with a long history, and its homes range widely in age. We fix and replace cooling and heating systems here on scheduled visits.
Quick facts
Local conditions
Callahan was settled in 1856, incorporated in 1911, and grew up around the railroad; two CSX lines still run through town. With the housing count up by roughly half between 2000 and 2020, the town has both older homes and a good number of newer ones.
In an older house, the parts that get overlooked are the ones you cannot see: duct joints in the attic, the condensate drain, and the wiring at the outdoor unit. Those get checked right after the refrigerant readings, because they are behind a lot of repeat breakdowns.
If your property is on a private well and you notice a rotten-egg smell, the Florida Department of Health points to the water heater, a softener or the well itself, which is a plumbing question. A musty smell from the vents is ours to chase: a dirty coil, standing water in the drain pan or leaky return ducts pulling in attic air.

We do, including homes outside town limits along US 1 and US 301. Expect a scheduled appointment rather than a promised arrival time.
Often, yes. A dirty evaporator coil, a clogged drain pan or leaky return ducts are common sources, and each can be checked on a diagnostic visit.
The residential diagnostic is $129. It is waived if you go ahead with a recommended repair over $250, and you get a written quote first.
