Local conditions

What Interlachen homes put their AC through

Interlachen means between the lakes, and the town sits between Lake Lagonda and Lake Chipco, the largest of more than two dozen lakes nearby. It was incorporated in 1888 as a winter resort and citrus center, and SR 20 has run through it since 1926.

Big subdivisions platted for lot sales surround the town, and many of their roads are still unpaved. Fine sand and road dust get pulled into outdoor coils and return grilles, so filters load up and coils need cleaning sooner than most people expect.

Homes close to the water can run higher indoor humidity, especially when an oversized system shuts off before it has time to dry the air. We check humidity along with temperature and look at the fan setting before suggesting any equipment change.

Booking

Setting a time in Interlachen

Interlachen is a good distance from the Westside, so we plan the visit with you in advance. Some homes in the outlying subdivisions sit a few miles of sand road off SR 20, so clear directions when you book help. The $129 diagnostic is waived if you approve a recommended repair over $250.

For a screened porch turned into a room, or a detached workshop, a ductless mini-split adds cooling without asking more of the existing ducts. Habits that help on a sandy road:

  • Check the filter every month and change it once it looks gray
  • Keep sand drifts and weeds clear of the outdoor unit
  • Use a filter the blower can handle; an overly restrictive one starves airflow
  • Keep windows shut on dry, windy days when the roads are kicking up dust

Straight answers

Common questions

I live on a dirt road. How often should I change my filter?

Check it monthly. Homes on unpaved roads often need more frequent changes than the package suggests.

Do you service homes around Interlachen’s lakes?

Yes, in town and out in the surrounding subdivisions. Give us directions when you book, especially if your road is unpaved.

Why does my lake house feel muggy with the AC on?

The system may not be running long enough to remove moisture, or the fan may be set to on. Readings of indoor humidity and airflow tell us which.
