Putnam County · East bank of the St. Johns
East Palatka has a mix of site-built and manufactured homes, and each needs its own kind of attention. We service the area on scheduled visits.
Quick facts
Local conditions
East Palatka is a census-designated community on the east side of the St. Johns River, where US 17, SR 20 and SR 100 meet and SR 207 starts its run northeast through farm country toward Hastings. The Putnam County Fairgrounds and the Palatka State Farmers Market are here.
Putnam County’s own housing plan, using 2000 Census figures, counted mobile homes as about 44 percent of housing countywide and more than half in unincorporated areas like this one. In a manufactured home the main ducts run under the floor, out of sight, which is exactly why problems there go unnoticed.
On a double-wide, the flexible crossover duct joining the two halves is a frequent weak point. When it sags, tears or slips off a collar, one side of the home runs warm and the system pulls humid air from underneath.

Because those ducts sit outside the cooled part of the house, even a small tear draws in damp air from beneath the floor. A manufactured-home visit covers:
