Flagler County · A1A
Every outdoor unit in Flagler Beach lives close to the surf. We repair and replace coastal systems here on scheduled visits from the licensed owner.
Quick facts
Local conditions
Flagler Beach sits on a narrow strip of land between the Atlantic and the Intracoastal Waterway, with about six miles of beach and one fishing pier. It was incorporated in 1925, and A1A runs the length of town; erosion from Hurricane Matthew in 2016 badly damaged the highway.
Equipment makers say salt can carry up to about two miles inland, and nowhere in Flagler Beach is far from the water. Salt shows up first as white crust on coil fins and rust on cabinet screws, then as pitting at copper joints and, eventually, a slow refrigerant leak.
The 2020 census counted about 28 percent of housing units as vacant, a figure that includes seasonal and part-time homes. A house closed up for weeks in summer should keep the AC set to control humidity rather than switched off, or it can come back musty.
Booking
Flagler Beach is a long drive from our Westside shop, so visits are booked ahead.
Before hurricane season, check that the outdoor unit is still secured to its pad and that nothing loose sits nearby to become a projectile. If you leave town for weeks at a time:
When a coastal unit needs replacing, we quote coastal-rated equipment with protected coils and cabinets alongside standard options, so you can weigh the cost against the conditions.

Yes, including part-time and rental homes along A1A. Appointments are made ahead by phone or online.
Leave it running at a moderate setting rather than off, so it keeps humidity down. A WiFi thermostat lets you watch the temperature while you are away.
If flood water or surge reached the outdoor unit, do not run it until it has been inspected. Water in the electrical parts can cause damage when the system starts.
