Two generations of equipment

What World Golf Village homes put their AC through

The 6,300-acre site was approved as a Development of Regional Impact in the 1990s, built around the King & Bear and Slammer & Squire courses. Growth picked up later, and the census area added roughly 10,000 residents between 2010 and 2020. Westminster St. Augustine, a life plan community, sits within the village as well.

That leaves the village with two very different sets of equipment. The oldest homes may still have aging R-22 units or a replacement from the 2000s, while houses from the last decade mostly need routine care and a check that they were set up correctly.

Fairway lots put mowers and irrigation right next to the outdoor unit. Grass clippings packed into the coil and sprinkler water hitting the cabinet both cut airflow and speed up corrosion, so keeping a clear space around the condenser matters here.

Older vs newer homes

What each kind of village home tends to need

Homes from the first build-out

Check the refrigerant type, compressor amp draw and duct condition before deciding anything. A leak on an older R-22 unit is often the point where replacement makes more sense than repair. Attic duct connections deserve a look too after that many years.

Homes from the last ten years

Annual maintenance keeps the coil clean and the drain flowing. It is also worth confirming the thermostat and fan settings suit Florida humidity rather than factory defaults.

Looking after family

Keeping an eye on a relative’s home

If an older parent or relative lives in the village, a WiFi thermostat lets family check the indoor temperature from a phone during a heat wave. Many models also send an alert when the house drifts out of range, which can flag a failed system before the house gets dangerously hot.

Langston’s installs and sets up WiFi thermostats, and seniors get 10% off residential work. The written quote means a family member can review the cost before approving anything, and setup includes making sure the alerts reach the right phones.

Common questions

Do you offer a senior discount in World Golf Village?

Yes. Seniors, military members and first responders get 10% off residential work. Ask for it when you book.

What should I do about grass clippings on my outdoor unit?

Turn the power off, brush loose debris from the outside of the coil and keep mower discharge pointed away from the unit. Packed coils need a proper cleaning during maintenance.

How much is a diagnostic visit?

A residential diagnostic is $129. If you approve a recommended repair over $250, the fee is waived.
