Why Northeast Florida homeowners call Langston’s

You get the owner

Not a dispatcher, not a rotating crew. The person who diagnoses it is the person accountable for it.

Flat-rate repair pricing approved by you before a single part comes off the truck.

Licensed & insured in Florida

Florida Certified Mechanical Contractor CMC1251311, EPA 608 Universal certified, insured on every job.

Local, across 8 counties

Jacksonville-based, covering eight Northeast Florida counties — not a franchise routing your call out of state.

Sound familiar?

If any of this is happening, it is worth a call

You do not need to know what failed. Describing the symptom is enough to get a real answer on the phone.

  • Heat pump blows cool air in heating mode
  • Auxiliary or emergency heat runs constantly
  • Furnace ignites then shuts down after a minute
  • Burning smell that does not clear after the first run
  • Outdoor unit iced over in winter and not defrosting
  • Loud bang on ignition

What the visit includes

The part most quotes leave out: what you actually get

Four things that separate a proper job from a parts swap. All four happen on every call.

1

Safety checks first

On gas equipment, heat exchanger inspection and combustion safety come before anything else. That is not negotiable.

2

Defrost and reversing valve diagnosis

The most misdiagnosed failure in Florida heating. It gets tested, not assumed.

3

Auxiliary and strip heat testing

Strip heat that stays energized when it should not is a quietly enormous power bill. Sequencers and staging get verified.

4

Thermostat staging set correctly

A miswired or mis-configured thermostat can force emergency heat for an entire season. It gets checked and corrected.

Questions

Heating Repair & Installation, answered plainly

Why does my heat pump blow lukewarm air?

That is often normal — a heat pump delivers air cooler than a furnace by design. If it is genuinely not warming the house, the likely causes are a stuck reversing valve, low charge, or a defrost board failure. All three are testable.

Do you service gas furnaces?

Yes — gas and electric furnaces, heat pumps, and air handlers with strip heat.

My emergency heat light stays on. Is that bad?

It means the system is heating with resistance strips instead of the heat pump, which can multiply your heating cost. It is worth a service call.

What customers say

The reviews that matter are the ones about what actually got fixed
